Types of Passports:
In Pakistan, you can get three main passport types:
- Regular Passport (Green cover): This is the most common one for everyday travel. It’s valid for either 5 or 10 years.
- Diplomatic Passport (Red cover): Issued to diplomats and government officials on official business.
- Official Passport (Blue cover): Issued to government officials for work trips abroad.
How Long is a Pakistani Passport Valid?
Your passport can be valid for 5 or 10 years, depending on the fee you pay. Passports for children under 15 are only valid for 5 years. Remember, you can renew your passport before it expires.
What Documents Do You Need?
The documents you need depend on your age:
For Adults (18+):
- Proof of payment (bank receipt) for the application fee
- Two photocopies of your CNIC/NICOP (your Pakistani ID card)
- Photocopies of your old passport (if you have one)
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) if you’re a government employee
- Photocopies of your foreign passport (if you’re a dual citizen)
For Minors (Under 18):
- Proof of payment (bank receipt)
- Two photocopies of your Birth Certificate (CRC/B-form)
- Photocopies of both parents’ CNICs
- Photocopies of your foreign passport (if you’re a dual citizen)
Applying for Your Passport:
There are two ways to apply: online or in person at a Regional Passport Office (RPO).
Applying Online:
This is mostly for renewing your passport. Here’s what to do:
- Visit the official website: link to NADRA website
- Click “Apply” and choose “Renewal.”
- Follow the instructions on the screen and submit your application.
Applying in Person at an RPO:
- Find your nearest RPO.
- Go to the Customer Service Counter and get a token.
- Follow the instructions at each counter: Photograph, Biometric Data, and Data Entry.
- An officer will check your information against official records.
- You might have a short interview with an Assistant Director.
- Collect your new passport within the timeframe they give you.
Passport Fees:
The fee for e-passports (electronic passports) depends on how long you want it valid and how fast you need it:
- 5 Years: PKR 9,000 (Normal) or PKR 15,000 (Urgent)
- 10 Years: PKR 13,500 (Normal) or PKR 22,500 (Urgent)
